Recent Moments, Including The Adult Version Of The First Day Of School Cafeteria

For the first time in as long as I can remember, I was seated at a dinner table with all strangers. Last night I had the immense joy of joining ShopMy and Alex Mill , along with Grace Atwood , for a dinner at Merci here in Charleston. Merci is one of my favorite restaurants downtown, and it’s very tiny with maybe seven or so tables. When I found my name card, I saw that I was seated with four other people that I had never met. I’ll be honest I did have a little bit of anxiety wondering how I would trudge through two hours of conversation, especially as I looked around at all of my friends being seated at tables near each other. Anyone else relate to that feeling?

Worth noting, I was easily the oldest person at my table by I bet an average of 10 to 15 years. But instead of feeling odd one out, I felt oddly lit up. It’s fun to be around people who are earlier in their careers. I left more energized than I have after a dinner in a long time, and I think it had everything to do with being “the elder” at the table. I made 4 new fun friends. It’s nice to step out of your comfort zone.

Loved meeting Rose and the rest of the team from Alex Mill at the Cooper yesterday. What a fun team. ALSO I had no idea that Alex Mill is Mickie Drexler’s son! They were so kind to let me choose a gifted piece, and seeing as how I already have the taylor sweater I picked out this crewneck marais cashmere sweater! Heaven!!
