My Routine Faves – From Morning ‘Til Bed

Today’s post is a take on the fun day in the life posts you see people putting together. I’ve broken my day into 5 segments – from morning til bedtime – and I’m basing it off a regular day. Obviously every day is different, but here’s a normal day for me –

Morning Routine:

I wake up around 7:20, brush my teeth, wash my face, take my vitamins and things, and change out of my pajamas. Note, I don’t get dressed for the day, I’m still very much in something soft and comfy like varley sweats. Out in the kitchen we are busy doing breakfast with the kids and getting lunches made (they both bring a lunch to school). Since both Lilly and Fletch are at the same high school together Lilly drives them both. I’ve made it!! As soon as they leave I’m at my computer with my coffee, (always in my heated ember mug) which is exactly where I’m sitting right now as I type this.

A little note on a newer-to-me supplement that I’ve added to my day and routine. First, let me say that I feel like every podcast i listen to talks about the microbiome and gut health. It’s such a big topic these days. There are so many different probiotic brands out there, but a few of my friends have talked about using Seed, so I finally tried it a few weeks ago. I take the Seed DS-01® Daily Synbiotic. It’s clinically shown to improve regularity, reduce bloating and alleviate gas. The gut is so closely linked to the overall health of our whole body, including appetite and just feeling off. When I first started taking it I began with one capsule a day and then worked my way up to two capsules a day, just because I can have a sensitive stomach. I take it in the morning. What I love so much about it is you know that it’s gonna work, in fact they did the largest clinical trial on a probiotic for bloating and gas. I wish I would have started this back when I first got on a GLP1, if you know you know.

Also a heads up that Seed’s Labor Day Sale is going on right now – you can take 30% off site wide from today until this Monday! They have other products too like a Daily Mulitvitamin and other targeted supplements. You can use my code CHASSITY30 for 30% off your order at checkout! Don’t miss out, Seed does not do sales often!

Lunchtime Routine:

I LOVE to get out of the house for a lunch with girlfriends. This is my most favorite time to socialize bc I just really love being home at night. I don’t do it every day but for sake of a more interesting day in the life post let’s say this is one of the days. My regular lunch spots are Melfi’s (going tmrw!), Obstinate Daughter, Post House (was there yesterday w/ neighbors), Little Jacks, and 167. I’m DYING to get to Annie Mae’s Bakeshop one of these days to try their chicken salad sandwich, it looks amazing.

Getting out of the house to meet friends is a great excuse to actually get dressed and throw on something pretty. Regardless of how dressy I go, I’m finding that I’ve been throwing this gold chain bracelet on with everything. But then I take it off immediately when I get home. I take off all of my jewelry when I get home. Anyone else like that?

Afternoon Routine:

Afternoons are always a little different, and I’m definitely still on my computer for the majority of it. Either writing book two (which is taking up majority of my free time lately) or for the blog/substack. But I usually also have some sort of errand to run with a kid, or something like the shipping store or grocery, or like yesterday the alteration shop for Lilly’s homecoming dress. I keep comfy slide-on shoes down in our mudroom that I can easily slip on and walk out the door in, even if my hands are full. And for fall I am SO excited about my new suede loafers. They’re really comfortable. I will say they run a smidge small. I did still take my regular size though. I have a code – CHASSITY15 !! Also these are the jeans I’m wearing.

Evening Routine:

Like I mentioned earlier, I like to be home in the evenings. It’s just a busy and full time of my day. The kids are home from school and either doing homework or lacrosse practice/workouts, Lilly might be babysitting, or Lil/Fletch could have friends over, so I try to be around in whatever capacity is needed. This timeframe is also when I like to do my workouts – a strength class from the peloton app or a walk outside or on our treadmill. I love walking on the treadmill b/c I watch netflix at the same time lol. We all sit down together for dinner every night. It’s casual. Josh usually does the cooking if I’m being honest, and I do the dishes. This’s weeks meal highlight was a new meatballs recipe from Caroline Chambers’s new cookbook Make It Fast, it will be a repeater for sure. It’s the best time of the day, (obvs not the dishes). I also always do an evening shower and put on my pajamas well before I actually get into bed. I’m particular about my pajamas, I prefer a long sleeve crewneck and long pants and socks. These are my favoritesI have multiple pairs.

Bedtime Routine:

Okay bedtime keeps getting pushed further and further away from us the older my kids get. BUT I will say I’m usually in my bed by 9:30. My Hatch sleep clock is a newer addition to my bedtime routine and I’m obsessed with it. I have it scheduled to begin my “turndown” service every night at 9:15. This consists of a light sleepy kind of music – there are lots of options, even bedtime stories and podcasts and asmr – as well as an ambient light you can choose. I couldn’t love this more!! I read on my Kindle every single night. Even if it’s just for 10 minutes, but usually its for at least 45 minutes and I have to make myself stop so that I get enough sleep.

I’m particular about my bedding and sleep on 100% cotton. And my sheets are on sale right now for Boll & Branch’s Labor Day sale, 20% off!! Also I think that everyone deserves to have this waffle blanket. I’ve slept with mine for 6 years now and it’s the best thing ever!! Also 20% off.

Okay, that’s pretty much it. I think I’ve gotten a smidge boring in my forties, but also i’ve never been happier either, so that’s interesting. xoxo
