Humans of New York: Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

Has anyone else had an emotional couple of weeks following Humans of New York’s posts? HONY’s creator, Brandon, is one exceptional individual. His posts have moved me many times over the last couple of years. But his latest collection of stories from the pediatrics department at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center has brought me to tears over and over again.

Cancer is so nasty, and it happens to any and all of us. And when it happens to children it is the lowest of the low.

The stories HONY is sharing come from doctors, nurses, researchers, mothers, fathers, and children. While many of the stories are truly heartbreaking to read, some are incredibly uplifting. And all are worthy of being heard.

So far HONY readers have raised $2 million dollars to be put toward fighting pediatric cancer. The donations will fund the science that saves the lives of children. Even if it’s a small amount please consider donating to the fight.

Great post. You may also want to look into Cycle for Survival. https://www.cycleforsurvival.org/

100% of all money raised goes directly to fund research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. It is a wonderful fundraising event- very empowering. I have been riding in it for 2 years so far as a tribute to my cousin lost to rare cancer. They have rides all over the country. I urge you to check it out!
